Strength of the Pride

August 5, 2014 By Dan Feuer

By Jim and Phyllis

Lion International President Joe Preston, in this in his Presidential Theme for 2014 – 2015, emphasized the importance to “Strengthen the Pride.” He noted “A ‘pride’ is a close-knit family of lions, as can be found in the savannahs of Central Africa. Each member of the pride has responsibilities. Whether they are hunters, protectors, caregivers, teachers or learners, they work as a team, for survival and prosperity. If even one member of the pride does not fulfill its role, it can effect the entire group. We can “Strengthen the Pride” by bringing the Lion’s family closer together, working in a spirit of cooperation and understanding, with each Lion member doing their share” (www.lionsclubs.org). These thoughts joined with President Preston’s membership initiative called “Ask One” gives each member around the world and here in the Fairfield Bay Lions club a direction to pursue in the coming year. Our Board of Directors is working on upcoming events to celebrate our 45th year as a Lions Club in September and to promote the membership initiative. We are calling on all Fairfield Bay Lions to join us and “Ask One” to a future meeting. More details regarding the September events will follow in upcoming articles.
The Fairfield Bay Lions Club meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month and our next regular meeting will be Thursday, August 14. Current members are encouraged to attend and “Ask One” to join us and see what the Fairfield Bay Lions are all about. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. ($7.50 per person, reservations requested by August 10 – Lion Jeanie Hooper @ 884-3202) and the meeting and speaker at 6 p.m. Our speaker will be Paula Bryan with educational information on the raising of goats and their products. such as goat’s milk, cheese and yogurt.
