Erma Irene (Clark) Doty peacefully gained her eternal dancing shoes on February 12th, 2022, in Des Moines, Iowa. Erma was 96 years young.
Born on December 29th, 1925, Erma lived a full and energetic life! She was a wonderful mother, the most loving grandmother, and a dedicated servicewoman. She loved to dance – especially to country western, spend time on crafts and sewing, and enjoyed social events whenever possible. She often reminisced of her time as a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 4513 – Fairfield Bay, Arkansas) – she spent countless hours serving her community, supporting veterans, and even marched in two presidential inaugurations!
Not a day went by where Erma didn’t boast with pride and joy about her family, as family was arguably the most important achievement in her life. Grandma’s contagious smile, warm hugs and endless spunk will be deeply missed and forever be in our hearts.
Erma is survived by her children, Linda Hoffman, Lana Ireland, and Edward Doty II along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Doty; her parents; two brothers, Johnny and Keith; and two sisters, Bernadine and Opal.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10 am on August 18th, 2022, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to your local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, an organization Erma cared deeply for.
