Lions Meeting

April 9, 2013 By Dan Feuer

by Jim & Phyllis Wilkins

“In 1917, Melvin Jones, a 38 year old Chicago business leader, told members of his local business club they should reach beyond business issues and address the betterment of their communities…” It should come as no surprise that two of our guiding purposes are “to promote the principles of good government and good citizenship” and “to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.” To that end the Fairfield Bay Lions are proud to announce our guest speaker for Thursday, April 11, 2013, will be Van Buren County Judge, and fellow Lion, Roger Hooper. “Each county has a county judge, who is the chief executive officer of the county,” and such, is the custodian of county property and public buildings, and is the highest county executive office. Now, in his second term of office, Roger will bring us up to date on projects in the county and other county news. Roger and his wife are long time members of the Fairfield Bay Lions and continue to be active with the club. The meeting will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by our regular meeting and the update by our County Judge. Guests are welcome for the meeting and to hear our speaker.
