Louise Shaw enjoyed many art activities with her friends at NCA Artist League. Here she displays three works in progress at a collage workshop.

The public is invited to view the North Central Arkansas Artist League art exhibit in the new wing of the Ozark Health Medical Center on S. Highway 65 in Clinton. Sixteen artists are displaying 21 original paintings and drawings as a special tribute to Louise Shaw, former member and Quitman resident who passed away Sept. 18.

For this exhibit, artists selected paintings that reminded them of her. She was a skilled performer on organ and piano as well as an artist and especially loved flowers, animals, music and her native state of Maine. She served as Hospitality Chair of the League and always saw to it that members had enough doughnuts and coffee to keep them painting and in a good mood every Monday morning.

Local artists contributing paintings are; Lea Berry, Joan Bland, Michelle Bry, Julie Caswell, Jan Cobb, Mark Davis, Diana Foote, Carolyn Goettsch, Joyce Hartmann, Dorothy Hendrickson, Connie Hood, Ellen Kelly, Sue Pico, Charlotte Rierson, Alison Shreck and Van Swink. Several paintings are available for purchase, with a percentage of those sales helping projects by the Hospital Auxiliary.

Art is located in the hallway, behind the lobby on the main floor of the new outpatient wing, south of the main entrance. The best times to visit are between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., although probably not on Wednesday, when there are a large number of oncology outpatients.

This exhibit is entirely separate from the one featuring animals and birds, “Critters,” on the 2nd floor of the hospita,l near the cafeteria. Counting both of these exhibits, original works displayed here by Arkansas artists number nearly 60, making the hospital one of the finest art galleries in the area. Exhibits will be changed every three months. For further information, ask at the Information Desk at the main entrance or call Joyce Hartmann, Exhibit Coordinator, 745-6615.
