Lions Clubs around the world have many things in common but each Lions Club has it’s own unique personality and way of fulfilling the motto of “We Serve.” Here in Fairfield Bay there is a special room in our Lions Den called the Sunshine Room, which was part of the original design of the building. This room holds a variety of medical equipment for short or long term loan as a community service for residents and visitors to Fairfield Bay and the surrounding area. Items available include ambulatory equipment such as tripod and regular canes, crutches, adjustable folding walkers (some with wheels, some without), shower and bath benches and chairs, commode accessories, wheel chairs, a chair lift and over the bed tables. Arrangements for these items can be made by calling Lion Jeannie Hooper @ 884-3202 or Lion President Ed Roberts @ 884-3679. Once availability of needed equipment is determined, arrangements can be made for pickup of the items at the Lions Den and may be returned by simply leaving them in the foyer. The Lions Club also gladly accepts donations of this type of equipment for sharing with others. Please contact one of the above Lions prior to bringing equipment for donation as items (such as hospital beds) some the Club can not accept.
Our next regular meeting will be Thursday, October 9 with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting and speaker at 6 p.m. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month and dinner reservations ($7.50 per person) can be made by contacting Lion Jeannie Hooper at 884 -3202 by the Monday prior to the meeting. BINGO is held each Tuesday evening with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the first game called at 6 p.m., snacks and cold drinks are available.
