Two years ago, the Recreation Department introduced Fairfield Bay to a sport that is sweeping through retirement communities and taking over tennis facilities across the nation. This sport is called Pickleball. I like to call it a mix between tennis and ping-pong. It is a sport you can pick up quickly and enjoy right here in the Bay.
We chose to start with an introduction to the sport, open play time and a few scheduled leagues. The cold weather brought the sport indoors to The Hart Center, and it has become the favorite spot for it because of the controlled weather of the inside. If you missed the beginning, we want you to know that it is NOT too late to get in on the fun-filled action. Every Monday and Wednesday, there is open play at the Hart Center from Noon-2pm. You can stop in just to watch or take a swing at it! Hart Center membership is required if you are going to play on a regular basis. You may also check out equipment from the miniature golf cabana at Woodland Mead for free seven days a week if you would like to play at the tennis center. We’ll see you on the courts!
