Van Buren County Master Gardener’s have completed preparations for our annual plant sale in conjunction with Bloomin’ in the Bay on May 9, 2015 at Ed Leamon Park. We have a great selection of both shade loving and full sun perennials that have been locally grown and potted. We have everything from showy flowers to subtle greenery to grace your garden. We will also have beautiful annuals including zinnias, impatiens, vinca, coleus, million bells, marigolds, just to name a few! And of course, everyone’s favorite, Persian Shield. This year, we will feature a number of hanging baskets and flowering planters just in time for Mother’s Day! We are also excited to announce that will have a selection of Fairy Gardens for sale. Made in baskets or pots using local plants, rocks and moss, the Fairy Gardens are easy to care for and make the perfect gift. Come early for the best selection and talk to a Master Gardener who can answer your questions about caring for any of the plants or planters for sale.
You can take a break from shopping by listening to a presentation at the cabin; 9:30 a.m. – Drip Irrigation for the Garden, our own Bob Berdine; 10:30 a.m. – Starting Backyard Composting, Robert Hunter; and 11:30 a.m. – Taking Care of Roses , Sherrie Smith. Interesting topics and great speakers.
There will be arts, crafts and vendors of all kinds as well as live performances at the cabin. And of course, the Kirk Men will be there with their with their “grill cuisine”!
The plant sale begins at 8 a.m. and runs to 1 p.m., though the festival runs all day. We hope to see everyone there, rain or shine.
