The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently recorded its most significant gain in new members in the history of the 123 year old organization. NSDAR is devoted to promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join. Each DAR applicant must provide research that documents her lineage back to an ancestor from the Revolutionary War era. Women recognize that joining DAR is a way to honor and preserve their family history.
The Little Red River Chapter of DAR will hold their February 14, 2014 meeting at Red Apple Inn in Heber Springs, AR. It will be a luncheon meeting beginning at noon. The hostesses are Lois Rickman and Dorothy Vaughan. The program will be “Women Spies in the Civil War” by Ruth Browning of Searcy.
If anyone is interested in learning more about becoming a member of DAR, please contact Jo Lee Larsson at (501) 772-8536.
