Xi Gamma Kappa (XGK) held their monthly business meeting at Linda Tangen’s home with Maude Huber as co-host. Maude served French and coconut macaroon cookies with hot cider, tea and coffee. Oaklawn horse races, the Queen’s Ball and the XGK Spring Style Show were the main topics of the business meeting. Nancy Mueller gave a report on the Oaklawn horse races that were originally scheduled for January 10. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the races were postponed and the new date is set for March 12. President, Shirley Rudolph, and Treasurer, Rose Teer, reviewed XGK’s responsibilities for Queen’s Ball, which will be held at the St. Francis Hall on March 14. XGK will be responsible for the hall decorations as well as their own tables. A lengthy discussion was held concerning the XGK Fashion Show, which will be held April 10. The duties and time-line for the Fashion Show committees were reviewed.
In addition to the business meeting, Tom Tangen, environmental engineer for Newfields LLC, gave a presentation on oil/gas fraccing in our area. The presentation was very informative and many questions presented by the sister’s were answered. Tom is an environmental engineer and partner for Newfields Companies, LLC and has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry as both an employee and a consultant.
