Sight Programs

March 11, 2014 By Dan Feuer

by Jim and Phyllis Wilkins

Lions Club members are proud to be part of a team that “provides more volunteers, doing more community work in more places than any service club organization. When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We Serve. In 207 countries, in hospitals and senior centers, in regions battered by natural disaster, in schools and eyeglass recycling centers, Lions are doing community volunteer work, helping, leading, planning and supporting. Because we’re local, we can serve the unique needs of the communities we live in.” (www.lionsclubs.org). The Fairfield Bay Lions, like many other clubs around the world, support sight programs and services including vision screenings, eye banks and eyeglass recycling. On Thursday, March 13, our local vision program coordinator, Lion Cindy Wellenberger, will be our featured speaker, giving an overall view of the vision and eyeglass program. As with all our bi-monthly 2nd and 4th Thursday meetings, we will begin with dinner at 5:30 p.m. for $7.50 per person. Reservations are requested by the Sunday prior to the meeting by calling Lion Mary Meadows @ 884-6388. Dinner is followed @ 6 p.m. by a short meeting with our guest speaker for the evening and visitors are always welcome. Please come and join us for a meeting and see if being a Lions Club volunteer might be for you.
On Friday, March 21, the Fairfield Bay Lions will host a Pancake Supper to benefit the Fairfield Bay Conference and Visitors Center. The Pancake/Biscuit & Gravy supper will be available from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. and tickets may be purchased at the Conference Center or at the door on the day of the event.
