Nearly thirty friendly, enthusiastic quilters gathered for Piecemakers monthly quilt club meeting on Wednesday, May 18. Evelyn Eades welcomed everyone. Susan Moore conducted the meeting; Pamela Davis gave the treasurer’s report; Virginia Reynolds gave the Sunshine Report. Susan informed us that the Piecemakers’ Website has been updated.
Ida Holt encouraged everyone to “Save the date” for our Fall Retreat scheduled for October 3-6. Bernardine Walter reported that 9-Patch exchange is finished. Eloise Brown presented our Mug Rug of the Month. Ten participants had completed the Flower Mug Rug and Gail Goss won the prize bag. Eloise gave out the pattern for the June Mug Rug, which is a Lady Bug. Susan asked for suggestions for possible bus trips for this year.
Ramona Johnson led the Sit and Sew to make a tissue box cover. Participants were able to complete their beautiful tissue box covers in a fairly short time. Thank you Ramona for a fast, fun project! Next month, Jill Hardison will be teaching a self-binding blanket for our Sit and Sew. In July, Gail Goss will do the Yoyo Christmas Tree wall-hanging.
This month for Sew and Tell, we saw: a Christmas countdown wall-hanging; an “outside-the-box” inside-the-box shelf with a fabric bowl; tissue box cover and Best Press bottle cover; a first quilt—finished UFO quilt; a five and dime quilt; a T-shirt quilt made with t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats; a 9-patch baby quilt; a wallet and matching bag; a flower quilt; a Nancy Mahoney star quilt; a twist & turn bargello quilt; a zipper bag; a blue star quilt top; a cat rag quilt; a divided tote; a window bag.
Piecemakers next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Clinton. Anyone interested in quilts or quilting is invited to attend.
