June Piecemaker news

July 1, 2015 By Dan Feuer

Summer vacation time is in full swing and the numbers were a little sparse at Piecemakers monthly quilt club meeting on Wednesday, June 17. Eloise Brown welcomed everyone and Pam Davis gave the treasurers report. Then, Eloise conducted the business meeting.
Kay Otis gave us information about the bus trip to the National Quilting Association 46th Annual Quilt Show, “Down by the Riverside” at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock on Thursday June 18, 2015. The trip went wonderfully with 15 Piecemakers members attending the show. Pam announced that the Hot Springs Quilt Show is coming up July 10th and 11th.
Linda LaDoux presented the Block of the Month and passed out the pattern for the July block – block Number 5. Bernadine Walters reminded us about the Van Buren County Extension Homemakers Quilt Show, which will be held November 13 & 14. Eloise will lead the Sit and Sew for July. She will provide Kits to make Zipper bags.
For Sew ‘n’ Tell this month we saw: a purse with some hand embroidery and a doily pocket; a pumpkin table runner; a green table runner with flowers; a blue flowered table runner; a bunny baby quilt; a wool penny rug; another purse; a red star table runner; a quilt in browns; Eloise brought the first quilt she ever made—a baby quilt; a Lemoyne star quilt—“Stepping Stones to the Stars”; a disappearing 9-patch quilt; a star quilt from Quiltmaker’s Ooh-Rah 2014 BOM.
Pam Davis presented the program about Round Robin quilts. Thank you for the great information, Pam! Gail Goss prepared the Sit and Sew Program. She had kits for a watermelon table runner. Thank you Gail for your work in preparing the kits and teaching the class!
Piecemakers next meeting will be on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Clinton. Guests are welcome to attend.
