Hiking Group’s Buffalo River Canoe Trips

April 30, 2013 By Dan Feuer

The Fairfield Bay Hiking Group will canoe the Buffalo River twice this spring. Weather permitting we will canoe a portion of the Upper Buffalo River on May 7. This one will be a little more challenging canoe float than last year’s leisurely float. The river water level will determine what portion of the Buffalo river we canoe so we will make the determination a few days prior to May 7. Safety will be our priority, so we will not canoe in any white river rapids. A second canoe float is scheduled for Monday June 3. This will be a gentle float in warmer weather and water.

Canoe rentals will be about $50 per canoe and includes life vests and paddles. There will be a small transportation charge to drop us off and pick us up. We will leave the Country club parking lot early to mid morning and also stop for brunch prior to the canoe float. Each float will be about 3-4 hours in duration.

Please contact Tom Welch at [email protected] or 501 884-3135 if you decide to participate in either canoe float. You can wait till 2 days prior to the canoe float to confirm your participation.
