First Hike Of The Season

October 16, 2013 By Dan Feuer

The first group hike of the season for the Fairfield Bay Adventure Group will be Saturday November 2. The first hike of this year will be a return to the Pedestal Rock trail near Ben Hur on highway 16 west of Clinton . The Pedestal Rock Trail is BY FAR the most scenic trail we have hiked and is also the easiest to hike. There is also a short second hike at this trail head to a large waterfall . The drive to the trail head alone is worth the trip as highway 16 is pretty much a “Ridge Road” offering miles of panoramic scenic views. The group will depart from the Indian Hills Country Club parking lot at 9 a.m. They will stop for brunch in Alread before starting the hike. They will return to Fairfield Bay later in the afternoon. If you have ever considered going on one of their hikes but were concerned about the hiking difficulty, this is the hike to go on, as it is the easiest hike they do each year . This hike is mostly along a flat trail on the top of the mountain. Contact Tom Welch at 884-3135 or at [email protected] if you have any questions or wish to participate in this hike.
