Destination: Centerpoint to Goat Trail (Big Bluff) 5.9 Mile out and back hike with 1076 ft elevation change
When: Wed.,11-2-22, 8:00AM Departure
With Autumn colors in their peak, I have selected a destination we haven’t visited in a couple years which has a panoramic view of the Ozarks and Buffalo River. This trail is known as one of the most spectacular in Arkansas. It’s a bit of a drive and a bit of a hike but it should be a good destination for those able and willing to make the trek.
Full disclosure: The trail is mostly downhill going to Big Bluff and uphill coming out and it is known for its rocky terrain. The goat trail is several hundred feet above the river so for those completely afraid of heights, please be aware of this. That is a short portion at the very end and is therefore optional. As it is about 6 miles with the return being uphill, I would not encourage anyone to go who cannot hike at least 6 miles. The AllTrails website has lots of information and reviews on this trail and I have attached a link below. This trail doesn’t permit pets so I suggest you leave your fur babies at home this time.
We will plan to depart from Indian Hills / Little Red Parking Lot at 8:00 AM so arrive a little early so we can meet up & make carpool arrangements. We’ll stop around Jasper for a bite to eat before the hike. As with all our activities, we participate at our own risk and everyone is expected to participate within their respective skill levels. We do expect everyone to use the buddy system and look out for one another throughout the hike.
Please let me know if you plan to go so I can get an idea of how many we will have participating. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
Kenny
