Busy Summer Season at the FFB Public Library.
Charity Golf Tournament a Success. Much thanks!
The library was honored to be one of the recipients of the proceeds from this fun tournament put on by David & Terrill Byard. We received $826, which will be put to good use in the library maintaining the standard of operation you have come to expect. Thank you to David and Terrill for including us. Karen and Pat ran the putting contest as a part of doing our bit. We had a ton of fun, tried to putt and collected a fair amount of money from folks willing to have a go. The final was a lot of fun and a young boy named T-Rex cleaned up. Watch for that name in the future when he turns pro. We can say we knew him when……… and he is from Fairfield Bay. Not bad for two gals who don’t play golf!!
Summer Reading Programs:
There were 14 kids who signed up for the Summer Reading Program. Those kids need to turn in the sticker sheets before they return to school. Next year, let’s improve on that number as reading is a window to the world. A large number of adults are participating in our first ever Adult Reading Challenge. All you had to do was read three books but to win prizes you need to turn in your book list. You still have time to list the books from the library that you have read over the last 6 weeks and bring it to the library.
Friends of the Library:
This is a group of “friends” of the library who are planning the fundraisers that help support the library. One of the events is to bring back the Christmas Tour of Homes. Details at a later date but the tour will begin and end at the library, where you will purchase the tickets and enjoy munchies. The “friends” are looking for some more “friends” to help in planning, organizing and running events as well as creative, fun ideas. Let Karen know if you are willing or interested in finding out more.
Membership renewal and a giveaway:
This is proceeding well this year, but is still a small percentage of the population in the area.
Got new neighbors? Let them know about this hidden gem.
Have not renewed your membership in more than a year? Come on down and renew. Even if you rarely take out a book your membership goes towards running the library.
Basic membership is $15 for one card and a brand new hardback book is about $26 and a paperback is around $8. Your library membership looks like a good deal to me.
OKAY…. Here is the giveaway:
Stop by the library, take a look around if you have not been there in a while and guess how many members we have. The person closest to the actual number will receive a membership to the library. If you are current, your membership will be extended for another year.
