What says, “The holidays are here!” more than cookies, Santa, the Grinch, buckboard rides through town, caroling, and a fabulous tree lighting ceremony? On Tuesday, December 3rd from 5:30 – 8:00pm, join the fun at Light Up the Bay, as Fairfield Bay becomes a Winter Wonderland complete with all kinds of treats and activities. Bring the whole family for a truly magical evening. Holiday celebrations will continue through December 14th. Festival of Trees in the Bay goes from December 3-14, at our Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce, with a collection of beautifully decorated trees to admire – each unique and beyond imagination, and sure to put you in the holiday spirit.
“When we Light up the Bay this year, our town will become a magical place,” says Jackie Sikes, Fairfield Bay Chamber of Commerce Director. “We’ll have Christmas treats, live music, and Santa has said he’s going to make an appearance too!”
A Magical Forest of Trees!
The evening kicks off at 5:30 with the lighting of the trees. So many to see – decorated with ribbons, bows, lights and ornaments, all created by local groups in the Bay. Come cast your vote for your favorite! Beginning at 5:45, the tree auction will begin and go until 7:45, where awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trees, and winners of the auctioned trees announced. Don’t miss out – you might be taking home your favorite tree!
An Old-Fashioned Buckboard Ride
Experience a true, wintertime treat with an old-fashioned buckboard ride with the Clydesdales from Cowboy Dodge. Bundle up and enjoy a ride through downtown, marveling at the lights and decorations of the season. Maybe even sing some carols in time to the clip-clop, clip-clop of the horses! What fun!
Christmas Cookie Celebration!
Who can resist the sweet tastes of a cookie? Have fun selecting and filling your box with an assortment of cookies. Cookie sales begin at 5:45 – and only $5 a box! Eat some while you enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and stroll through all the trees, listening to the beautiful sounds of holiday music. And why not take another box home before you leave? Funds raised through this event will help fund Chamber programs and events in the Bay. The holidays sure are sweet!
Don’t Forget the Music!
You can’t have a holiday celebration without music! Caroling begins at 5:30 as we light up all the trees for the season. Choirs from local churches as well as individuals will perform your favorite holiday tunes to get you in the spirit. So be sure to warm up those vocal cords and join in!
SANTA!!
Our sources at the North Pole tell us that Santa will be making a surprise appearance this year! So get your lists ready, make sure he’s got you on the NICE list and come have a photo taken with everyone’s favorite!
