I, Emma Smiley, would like to announce that I will be a Republican candidate for Van Buren County Assessor in 2018. I am a lifelong resident of Van Buren County and live in Dennard with my husband, Jeremy. We have been married twenty-six years and have two children. Our daughter, Kelsey, just graduated from the University of Arkansas and is living and working in Fayetteville. Our son, Dalton, is a senior at Clinton High School.
My work history and experience in city, county, and state offices has provided me with the qualifications needed to succeed in this position. Currently, I am approaching seven years at the Clinton Revenue Office. I also have seven years of experience in the Van Buren County Assessor’s Office, working for C.L. Mackey. During that time, I worked in the real estate department as an appraiser, entered data into their first computer system, updated land owners, and worked in personal property when needed. In addition to my experience in city and county offices, I previously had the honor of working for attorney Jim Burnett.
I would like to put my experience and conservative values to work for the tax paying citizens of Van Buren County. I feel that the tax dollars used to run this office should be used as efficiently and conservatively as possible, and I will always put the interest of our county’s residents first.
Your vote and support would be greatly appreciated in the upcoming election. Vote Emma Smiley, Van Buren County Assessor 2018.
