Davis Special Questers met Thursday, October 16 at the home of Mickey Roberts. Ten ladies attended the meeting including six members, two visitors and two new members, Celle Newsome and Fran Schroeder. After enjoying a dessert of Apple Pie and ice cream and a good time visiting, President Janet Small called the meeting to order. The short meeting was followed by a program by Mickey Roberts. Mickey discussed information from “The Everyday Cook Book” by Miss E. Neil published in 1892. Cooking tips and recipes are featured in the cookbook as you would expect, but also there is a lot of discussion on housecleaning, raising children and health issues. If you needed to know how to clean your corsets or make your own furniture polish or if you needed a cure for tape worms, a whitlow, constipation, catarrh, chilblains or just about any malady “The Everyday Cookbook” would have been the book to have in your library in 1892.
