On Monday, January 14 the Fairfield Bay City Council approved Ordinance 2019-01 for a Private Club Permit application for Carrol Culinary Club, Inc to obtain a liquor license from the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Division. This approval does not authorize the operation of a private club within the City limits but does give authorization to apply for a permit as required by Arkansas Code Annotated §3-9-222 as amended. Debra Ivanor is the acting manager of Carrol Culinary Club, Inc., which will be located at 100 Lost Creek Parkway in the hotel bar. The Ordinance also states that operations will begin only when the permit has been issued by the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Division.
Economic Development:Broadband study has been completed and is very promising with Ken Goodwin pursuing low cost loan through USDA for a fiber optic system within the Bay. Talks continue with investors on new home development and new businesses on Hwy 16. White River Health System now offering medical services in the Wyndham building, looking toward 7 day service in the future and a specialist on Fridays. 2018 was the sixth straight year of increasing sales tax receipts. Taxable sales had increased $6,035,000 since 2012.
A&P Commission: Continues successful meetings with personnel at the Little Rock Air Force Base sharing what Fairfield Bay has to offer. Discussions are in the works for a Gold Star Memorial Fund Raising Golf Tournament at Indian Hills.
Building Safety, Parks & Rec:Two new home permits have been issued this month starting off 2019 with growth. LED lighting has been completed at the Conference Center. Plans include replacing filters on roof top units at the Conference Center, getting pricing on replacing rusted cages at the Animal Shelter as well as floor grates.
Grants in Progress:Applied for $704,762 95/5 share Assistance for Firefighters Grant from FEMA for a 100 foot Aerial Ladder Truck. Applied for a $78,715 95/5 share Assistance to Firefighters Grant from FEMA for 29 sets of Firefighter Protective Equipment. Applied for a $2.2K JAG Grant for update Body Cameras for the Police Department.
Awards: This Thursday, January 17 during the Arkansas Municipal League Winter Conference in Little Rock, Fairfield Bay will be awarded a Trendsetter Award for Department of Public Safety and Tourism Development and Volunteer City of the Year Award.
