Are your kids interested in horses? Do you own a horse? Do your kids just want to learn more about horses and the equine industry? Ashley Harper and Morgan Antie, Van Buren County 4-H Leaders, have organized a new 4-H Equine Club for 4-H members in Van Buren County. This will be a project club focused on horses and other equine that can serve as your main club or a secondary club. Our leaders do plan on some riding activities to assist members with horses to become better riders and assist them in preparing for riding events in 4-H. They also plan to have other activities so members without horses can participated in non-riding activities also. The 4-H program provides to Jr.(ages 9-13) and Sr.(ages 14-19) programs that are educational and competitive that do not require a horse. Some of these activities include horse quiz bowls, horse judging, hippology, and various speaking contests.
