STERLING SCHOLARS LECTURE
The Origins of Heraldry, Family Crests and Coat of Arms.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5 ~ 1-2 p.m.
Sterling Scholars Lecture with Professor Stanley Lombardo, Ph.D. Medieval Literature and Culture, on the Origins of Heraldry, Family Crests, and Coat of Arms.
Dr. Lombardo has taught screenwriting, technical writing, British literature, film studies, science fiction, applied linguistics and TESOL at Arkansas Technical University since 1977. He is the author of a series of historical fiction books – Paxton at Bosworth Field – three novels that take the hero from the 1800’s West to the English court of King Richard III. Dr. Lombardo has been known to share his vast knowledge of metallurgy and skill at sword making with groups while displaying his very own suit of armor. Cost $10.

Jewelry Making
Wednesday, August 5 ~ 10 a.m.-noon
Learn the basics of jewelry making, select your beads from our stock, design your earring, necklace or bracelet and then leave with your project. Our local artisan, Bettye Ann Cooper, will have all the tools and supplies you will need to use. This class is suitable for ages 12 and up, any experience level is welcome. Cost of designing your own unique jewelry is $30.
Fused Glass Art
Wednesday, August 5 ~ 2-4 p.m.
Learn the art of fused glass. Local artisan, Barbara Cornett, will help you with your custom creations. All supplies and materials are furnished. This class is suitable for ages 12 and up. Any experience level is welcome. Cost of designing your fused glass piece is $35.
Jeweled Spider Art
Thursday, August 6 ~ 9:45-11:30 a.m.
Did you know that legend has it that spiders are considered lucky? Instructor Fran Schroeder can teach you to create your one of a kind jeweled spider. All supplies and beads are provided. Any experience level is welcome. Cost of designing your own spider jewelry is $20.
