When the clients at the World Services for the Blind left on the holiday break in December it was unknown if they would have a learning facility to return to. The “World Services for the Blind was founded by Arkansas Lion Roy Kempe in 1947 to serve people who are blind and visually impaired, who needed to learn independent living skills or job training skills that considered the special requirements of their individual visual impairments.” (www.lwsb.org). The facility located in Little Rock, AR has provided training for over 12,000 visually impaired adults from all 50 states and more than 58 foreign countries since 1947. “Because of your generosity, we met our fund raising goal of $125,000! The amount will be matched by an Arkansas family foundation for a total of $250,000.” (www.lwsb.org). It is good to know that the life training skills from learning Braille to mastering home living skills and career training in a number of vocational programs that help clients develop excellent career skills will continue with the generous donations which have been received.
