Part of the mission statement of Lions Clubs states that we help by “empowering volunteers to serve their communities” which can happen in a number of ways. One small way the Fairfield Bay Lions do this is by assisting other civic organizations in their fund raising efforts through the use of the Lions Den and pancakes. As in years past FFB Lions will team with other civic organizations to support their projects by hosting Pancake Suppers for which the organization sells their own tickets and any proceeds above the cost of the food then belongs to that group. On Saturday 9 February from 5 pm – 7 pm there will be a Pancake Supper to support the efforts of the Auxiliary of Indian Rock Village for health care and assisted living. On Saturday March 2nd the Master Gardeners will hold their Pancake Supper also at the Lions Den. For ticket information please contact a member of these groups or tickets will be available at the door.
Our first regular meeting of the Fairfield Bay Lions will be on Thursday, February 14 with a pot luck supper. Members are asked to bring a dish to share and the club will provide additional dinner items. Our speaker for the meeting on the February 14 will be Sherry Guess the new Director of the Fairfield Bay Education Center. After dinner and our speaker Lion President Jim Meadows will crank up the BINGO machine for a couple of games.
BINGO is held each Monday evening with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the first game called at 7 p.m. as part of the Lions Clubs own fund raising efforts. Please join us for these events. Membership questions may be directed to Lion Mary Meadows @ 884-6388.
