Willa Wells The 20th Anniversary of the Xi Gamma Kappa Style Show officially ushered in spring on Friday, April 5 with almost 200 ladies arriving at the St. Francis Parish Hall in their own spring fashions anxious to be among the first to view the newest colors and styles. In the spirit of “It takes a Village,” the seventeen sorority members took their tasks to heart to make the event meet their expectations for a successful fundraiser, as well as an enjoyable occasion for the guests.
The festivities included home-made desserts by the members, door prizes donated by merchants and this year a special raffle on a double wedding ring quilt and a beautiful stained glass piece of art, both given in love by a sorority members LaJoyce Doran and Karen Gehl. Pat Cash, of the famous White River Hoe Down in Mountain View narrated the show with her usual brand of humor. Five members of the sorority wore clothes from The Sweet Shoppe & Bay Boutique in Fairfield Bay, Aunt Minnie’s Little Yellow House & Unique Boutique in Mountain View, Fashions Savvy in Mountain View, Inger’s Butikk in Greers Ferry, Stage in Heber Springs and Kohl’s in Conway.
The models were Jean Rumps, Shirley Rudolph, LaJoyce Doran, Rose Teer and Mert Heiman.
The proceeds will benefit Fairfield Bay Community Organizations. The sorority members wish to thank the merchants, the sorority husbands who parked cars, and, of course, all the ladies who came to support and enjoy the 20th Anniversary event.
