A free continuing education program “Solving the Healthcare Puzzle: Caring for Aging Patients” will be held at Ozarka College Lecture Hall, 64 College Dr. in Ash Flat. This program will be held on Thursday, November 8, from 1 to 4 p.m. for all interested health care professionals. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The featured speakers are: Douglas R. Jones, J.D., MBA, elder law attorney. Mr. Jones’ presentation, “Guiding Patients/Clients in the Right Direction,” will define elderly law, identify the decision makers and explore the protection and disposal of assets of the elderly. Mr. Jones will also discuss the impact of elder law when providing healthcare to the elderly. Phyllis Watkins, Executive Director of Alzheimer’s Arkansas will present “Communication: How to Manage Daily Challenges.” Ms. Watkins will identify understand respectful ways of preventing and adapting to challenging behaviors. This program is sponsored by the Center on Aging-Northeast and Diversicare, in cooperation with UAMS AHEC-Northeast. Lunch will be provided by Ash Flat Nursing and Rehab and refreshments will be provided by First National Bank. Nursing CNE’s will be awarded via the Center on Aging -NE.
