Senator Missy Irvin, along with Commissioner of State Lands John Thurston, Fulton County Judge Darrell Zimmer and officials from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Arkansas Geological Survey and emergency management met at the site of the sinkhole in the Spring River this morning. There they met with hydrogeologist Tom Aley, PG with Ozark Underground Laboratory in Potem, Missouri. Mr. Aley is conducting a survey of the area with a dye tracing technique to determine whether the present water feature is a shallow or deep flow mechanism.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Commissioner of State Lands, the Arkansas Geological Survey , the Arkansas Game and Fish, Arkansas State Parks and all of the agencies that have assisted Fulton County with this dangerous natural phenomenon. We are working together to determine the best solution for the safety of river tourists on the Spring River.”
