Peace Lutheran Church Donates Over 250+ items to Shirley High School
Edgemont, AR,– Peace Lutheran Church collected paper and pencils for Shirley High School. During two weeks in August, the congregation, which has an average attendance of fifty people, collected over two hundred and fifty items for SHS. After calling the school and speaking to the High School Principal, Mr. Michael Bramlett, it was clear that a focused drive for the High School would be a great way for the members of the congregation to extend God’s love to the students of Shirley High School.
“High School Students were often unthought of during back to school drives because their supplies are not nearly as fun and do not invoke the nostalgia of elementary school supplies,” states Rev. Kara Shaw, pastor of Peace Lutheran Church. “High school students simply need paper, pencils and a few binders. By focusing our efforts on these basic needs we could make sure students had the supplies they needed. When you have what you need you are able to grow into who God is calling you to be, that is our hope for the students of Shirley High School.”
High School can be a difficult time in any student’s life. No one needs the stress of not being able to obtain the needed supplies added to there life as a teenager. For many students in the district, supplies are outside the means of their families’ income, which makes donations like paper and pencils, which seem so basic, critical.
