When was the last time we, as members of the Fairfield Bay Lions, spoke with one of our friends, neighbors, fellow church members or just golfing buddies about being a Lion? During this past year, Lions Clubs International began a new program called “Ask 1” with the premise “Just imagine if every Lion, 1.35 million, asked one person to join their club.” Under the umbrella of this program are several different initiatives including Family Membership and the Involve a U S Veteran Program. The Family Membership idea allows a family member in the same household to pay only half of the international dues and the U S Veteran Program provides an entrance or charter fee waiver when joining a Lions Club. We know community members, other than our fellow Fairfield Bay Lions, read these articles but we can all do a better job of talking with others about becoming a Lion. Take the time between now and our first 2015 meeting on February 12 to just “Ask 1” to join us for that meeting to see what being a Lion is all about. Meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. followed by announcements and guest speaker at 6 p.m.
Please join with the Fairfield Bay Lions in support of Boy Scout Troop 401’s Pancake Dinner fund raiser on Saturday evening February 7 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Lions Den on Dave Creek Parkway. Pancakes, sausage and the fixings will be served and donations of $6 will be accepted. Help the Lions Club support our youth by enjoying dinner with the scouts to raise funds for activities and equipment.
BINGO will resume on Tuesday, March 3 with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the first game called at 6 p.m. Snacks and beverages are available.
