I have known John a long time and had the pleasure of watching him play football and run track at UCA. He was, and has always been, an all-around superior athlete. He was also an impressive baseball player. Any game that he played was exciting to watch.

It is refreshing to see one of the good guys get his rightful recognition. It takes us back to a time when athletes played for the love of the game and excelling by hard work and dedication.

After college, John continued his love of sports by teaching and coaching. There is no count of how many young lives he positively impacted, but he should count this is one of his most satisfying achievements.

In addition to team sports, John is also a respectable golfer who has played – and done well – in golf tournaments throughout the state. He is one of those well-rounded people who excelled in school, both academically and athletically, succeeded in business, raised a son who is one of the best men you could ever meet, and has maintained lifelong friendships. Few top athletes are blessed with this kind of success in “life after sports. “

My husband and I want to give hearty congratulations to Mr.Simmons and his extended family for this well-deserved honor. Also, congratulations to the other Hall of Fame inductees. Ann & Robert Linton, Mayflower AR
