Local Artist’s Pictorial Study Of European Landscape

Bonnie Hookman’s watercolor painting mirrors scene photographed and printed in Arkansas Democrat Gazette soon after her return home.World wide traveler and artist, Bonnie Hookman, is presenting her fall trip through Europe in a watercolor pictorial at Fairfield Bay Library, 369 Dave Creek Parkway from October 25, 2011 thru January 31, 2012. Bonnie and her husband, Jim, have enjoyed years of travel and, as she says, “I pack my watercolors first when we travel.” Architecture and antiquity are favorite painting subjects. Many of her works are finished on site with larger versions being completed upon her return. People often commission a painting after viewing the originals. A clipping from the ArkansasDemocrat Gazette depicts the exact location of a painting in this exhibit. This is the second time the TRAVEL section of the Gazette has seemingly followed the Hookmans on their journeys. The exhibit is hung in a start to finish fashion the 1st three pictures begin in Hungary, followed by Germany along the Rhine, the island of Gotland off the coast of Sweden and finally, Switzerland. Bonnie has been involved in art all her life, studying at the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, Missouri and majoring in art education in college. She maintains a private studio in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas where she continues her painting passion. Though her career path led her in many directions, she has always found time to paint. Tourists to the area could often find her set up along side a scenic roadway happily painting the surrounding countryside. Bonnie is an active member of North Central Arkansas Artist League The public is invited to view the exhibit at the library, Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, Tuesday-Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For more information, contact Ellen Kelly, library coordinator, 501-884-6476.
