The next regular meeting of the Fairfield Bay Lions Club will be Thursday, October 9 which is also Lions World Sight Day – focusing attention on preventing blindness and improving sight. Lions Club International will officially mark Lions World Sight Day in Reykjavik, Iceland on October 14. Lions around the world will mark World Sight Day with a variety of activities during the entire month of October. Since 1988, Lions World Sight Day, held annually in October, has focused attention on eliminating preventable blindness and improving sight. On World Sight Day, Lions Clubs around the world conduct special sight-related projects including: collecting glasses, conducting vision and diabetes screenings and planning educational programs to inform their communities about the importance of eye health and diseases, such as diabetes, that can impair sight. Our meeting on Thursday, October 9 will begin with dinner at :30 p.m. followed by our regular meeting.
The Lions Club, in conjunction with the Fairfield Bay Community, will help celebrate Oktoberfest with an All-U-Can-Eat Pancake and Gravy Biscuit breakfast on Saturday, October 11 from 7 – 10 a.m. Only $ for adults, $3 for youth – 12 and children under free with accompanying adult you can have all the pancakes ,gravy biscuits and coffee you wish along with sausage patties and a glass of milk if you don’t care for coffee. Orange juice, bottled water, extra milk and sausage patties are available for a small, extra charge. BINGO is held each Tuesday evening with doors opening at :30 p.m. and the first game called at 6 p.m. There is a $,000 jackpot available for a blackout cover, all currently at 58 numbers.
