Lions Clubs around the world have many things in common, but each Lions Club has their own unique personality and way of fulfilling the motto of “We Serve.” Here in Fairfield Bay there is a special room in our Lions Den called the “Sunshine Room” which was part of the original design of the building. This room holds a variety of medical equipment for short or long term loan as a community service for residents and visitors to Fairfield Bay and the surrounding area. Items available include ambulatory products such as tripod and regular canes, crutches, adjustable folding walkers (some with wheels some without), shower and bath benches and chairs, commode accessories, wheel chairs, chair lift and an over bed table. Arrangements for these items can be made by calling, Lion President, Jean Hooper @ 884-3202 to see if needed items are available. Once availability of needed equipment is determined, arrangements can be made for pickup of the items at the Lions Den and may be returned by simply leaving them in the foyer. The Lions Club also gladly accepts donations of these types of equipment for sharing with others. We can not accept larger items such as hospital beds and mechanized scooters due to lack of proper storage for such items.
The Fairfield Bay Lions Club meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month with dinner served at 5:30 p.m. followed by our regular meeting and guest speaker. Our guest speaker for the March 27 meeting will be Lion Cindy Wellenberger, with information on the Fairfield Bay Lions Sight Program. (This program was originally identified as being for March 13 but should have been listed for March 27). We will begin the evening with a Pot-Luck supper followed by a short meeting and our featured speaker. All meetings are open to the public and visitors are always welcome. For information regarding joining the Fairfield Bay Lions please contact our Membership Chair Lion Mary Meadows at 884.6388.
