The Fairfield Bay City Council held their regularly scheduled meeting, Monday, June 10.
Rose Owen, City Recorder/Treasurer, stated that a great amount of property tax was received from the county. The Ambulance fees made a large contribution toward revenue for the month of May.
Economic Development include upgrades by Mr Waters, owner of some Shadow Ridge Villas, to seven of his three room condos, providing an additional 21 rooms to rent for conferences. Real estate sales continue on the rise. The number of homes sold is up 31% for the first five months of 2013, with the average sale price up 32%.
Bob and Wilba Thompson discussed progress of Our Towne Conference and Visitor Center. A steering committe has been established and consists of Bob Connell, Rory Bradley, Sharon Luxon, Bonnie Lang and Cindy Wellenberger. They will meet every two weeks. The committe is developing fundraisers for the Conference Center and the Performing Arts Center.
Discussions are in the works with Goodwin & Herman for additional units available for rent.
Plans include a booking of a conference in March 2014. Workout booking details, by Dale Tice and Mr. Waters, will be announced as villas become available. Work with Wyndham for additional housing options and develop and tour plan will continue once the mold has been removed.
In the Mayor’s report; Paul commended John Foster on his planning and organization of another outstanding Memorial Day. “We really need to pay attention to dollars being spent as repairs come to completion to the conference center. We have some great people working hard, which makes our chances of success great. I feel confident yet cautous,” said Paul.
