Help Is Available Locally For Caregivers Of Alzheimer’s Patients

Do you care for a person with dementia? If so, you experience the stress of dealing with situations and reasoning that is not logical. Do you feel guilty when the stress is overwhelming? Do you sometimes wish for personal advice from a professional? Thanks to the success of the local Alzheimer’s Walk held here in September, such individual counseling is available from the staff at Alzheimer’s Arkansas. A telephone “hotline” is available 24/7 at 501-913-1878. In addition, professionals from Alzheimer’s Arkansas will come to the Fairfield Bay area to sit down with you and advise you individually. An appointment can be made by calling 1-800-689-6090. A support group for Alzheimer’s/dementia caregivers is also available. It meets at 2 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the small dining room off the lobby at Indian Rock Village. The next meeting will be at 2:00 p.m. May 15. Call 884-6728 for information about the support group or the services available from Alzheimer’s Arkansas.
