FORE! It’s Spring and time for our Annual Golf Tournament
This month brings our annual Tee It Up for Literacy Golf Tournament on April 21st 2018. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year and is now on its 10th year.
How can you participate?
1. Gather a team of four and play.
You pay $300 per team of four as a Silver Sponsor or $55 per individual. You help the library and have a fun time doing one of your favorite activities. Sign up at Indian Indian Hills Pro Shop.
2. Don’t play golf!
Not a problem. Support a hole on the course starting at $100 and you will have your name posted on a hole acknowledging your contribution. Stop by the Library and turn in your contribution.
3. Volunteer at the event.
There are all sorts of jobs that are available. Let Karen at the library know that you are willing. (Registration, hole monitoring and lunch preparation to name but a few.)
Volunteers?
Volunteers are out searching for support and contributions from area businesses and organizations who have supported us in the past. Cobblestone Hotel & Suites, who will be building the hotel, have agreed to be a major sponsor and as of this newsletter, plan to be in town so you will be able to meet company representatives. Their trip culminates with the groundbreaking event for the hotel on April 26th.
Library Art Display:
Our new Art Display is up in the walls. It’s a joint effort between two sisters, Jan Cobb and Julie Caswell. Stop by and check it out. Some pieces are for sale with payment going to the artists. The walls get new artwork several times a year.
Save the Date: BIG HUGE BOOK SALE, May 11 and May 12th.
Preparations are also underway for the annual big book sale which takes place Friday, May 11th and Saturday, the 12th from 9am through 4pm. We will be setting up in the Lions Den on Dave Creek Parkway.
This sale is also being held during Bloomin’ In The Bay, Blues and BBQ, and a car show so you can plan a full weekend of fun, food, vendors and philanthropy by buying books, going to the Master Gardeners plant sale, listening to music and visiting the vendors.
Book sale starts at 9am both Friday and Saturday.
Plant sale starts at 9am Saturday, the 12th.
Blues and BBQ starts at 10 am Saturday, the 12th.
Cruz’in the Bay Car Show starts at 9am Saturday, the 12th.
Themed Backpacks Checked out for use
Just a reminder that we have our themed backpacks that can be checked out for Fishing, Hiking and Birding. We added another backpack called Rainy Day backpack, there are two of them and these contain games and activities for kids age 4 through pre-teen.
UPCOMING SUMMER:
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS: Summer Reading Program
Preparations are also under way for our children’s program for the Summer, which includes the Summer Reading Program – a nationwide program to encourage reading. Its theme this year is “Libraries Rock” and we agree. There will be a couple of events geared towards the younger generation. Tommy Terrific will be back by popular demand on June 29th at 10.30am also. The event will be again at the Lions Club.
What can you get for $15?
One book for your child!
– Two and three quarter’s cups of fancy coffee at a specialty coffee store!
– Lunch for two, tip not included perhaps?
I’m sure you could think of many things to spend $15 on, but how about this?
Join the Library as a member and you have access to an unlimited supply of books for your children. Area kids through age 18 get a free membership when an adult becomes a member. Stop by and check us out.
