North Central Arkansas (NCA) Art Gallery located in the Fairfield Bay Conference Center is featuring Conway Artist Susan Peterson.
After being employed in education for 30+ years, Susan finally discovered the artist within! She began with watercolors, taking classes from Sheila Parsons. then she moved on to oils, studying with Steve Griffith and attending workshops with Barry Thomas and others. Now her favorite is acrylic. Susan has an art studio at home in Conway where she does most of her painting. She also is a potter. Susan has a wheel at home, but does most of the hand-building, glazing, and firing at the Arkansas Art Center in Little Rock where she gets to work with and learn from many talented potters. Susan says she enjoys exploring different techniques, trying new glazes, and seeing the work of others. She especially loves the excitement and unexpected outcomes when raku firing pottery. Susan’s paintings and pottery can be found at Carmen’s Art and Antiques in downtown Conway. She also participates in local art shows and festivals. Susan’s style is very eclectic – almost schizophrenic in a way – and unfortunately she feels that she is only just now uncovering what may be her true style. Susan said “I can’t tell you the enjoyment and satisfaction that comes from someone admiring a piece of work that I have created.” She is a former president of the Conway League of Artists and is still a board member.
