Thursday, September 25 is our Membership Drive dinner at the Lions Club and each member was asked to bring a prospective member to dinner for free. Members will be asked to pay the regular $7.50 for dinner but guests will eat for free. Lion Jeannie Hooper is going all out with a dinner of beef roast, fried chicken, parsley potatoes, green beans, fruit salad, rolls and her special bread pudding that we all love so well. The Fairfield Bay Lions Club started on September 11, 1969 with 53 charter members and over the years has seen increases and decreases in membership. As with any charitable organization or club it is up to the current membership to bring in new members or fade away into the sunset. It is not time for the Fairfield Bay Lions to go quietly but time for each member to stand up as our International President, Joe Preston, has said and each one “Ask One” to “Strengthen the Pride.” Our local President, Ed Roberts, has named September for a special effort by all local Lions to do our part in strengthening our local pride and recruit some new Lions. By inviting guests to come and see what the Fairfield Lions are all about, it gives us the opportunity to promote our club and its goals and to renew our own commitment to our motto of “We Serve”. So, Thursday, September 25 at 5:30 p.m. let’s see who’s coming to dinner. For more information on Lions Club membership or the dinner please contact our Membership Chair Robert Smith @ 253-0552 or our President Lion Ed Roberts @ 884-3679. The Fairfield Bay Lions meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month with dinner at 5:30 p.m. ($7.50 per person – reservations requested by the Monday prior) and the meeting and guest speaker following at 6 p.m. BINGO is held each Tuesday evening with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the first game called at 6 p.m. and each Tuesday there is a chance for $1,000 in a progressive blackout game.
