Paintings by North Central Arkansas Artist League (NCAAL) member Doris Sexson are on exhibit at the Community Gallery at First Service Bank in Clinton, Arkansas through the end of August. The exhibit may be viewed during banking business hours.
Doris’s passion for art developed while working as “Artist in Residence” in the Blytheville, Arkansas School District. The program was sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council and enabled her to teach visual arts in seven elementary schools. She moved to Fairfield Bay in 1992 and has served as a teacher and volunteer to hundreds of residents and visitors in the community. She currently teaches painting classes in her home studio and attends workshops throughout the United States. Her most recent plein aire workshop with Betty Carr in Sedona, Arizona inspired her to paint sun-filled landscapes and Southwestern scenes. She paints primarily in oils but has gained a reputation as a muralist from her works adorning the walls of the FFB Senior Center, the Hart Center, and Indian Rock Village.
Doris will be honored with a reception Friday, August 6 at 2 p.m. at First Service Bank. The public is invited to attend. For further information about the exhibit or gallery contact North Central Arkansas Foundation for Arts & Education at (501)253-7909.
